Newhaven Chamber of Commerce is a business-led membership organisation and business networking group run for members by members. Our aim is to support the local business community and economy and to promote our members’ interests through:
With a permanent office based in Newhaven the Chamber offers up-to-date and independent advice to all it's members as well as information and advice on a variety of subjects.
The Chamber holds a range of opportunities to network and build business relationships – breakfast and lunch meetings; members’ evenings; sports and social events; training and seminars and many more.
One of the many benefits of Chamber membership is the opportunity to offer discounts and special promotions through the Member to Member Discounts. The online business directory provides a free listing for all members. In addition, the twice-monthly newsletter carries regular advertising inserts.
The Chamber represents the local business community on a range of policy making to help make the business voice heard and to challenge policy development that might be detrimental to the trading environment.
Regular business support events are held throughout the year on a variety of topics using expert speakers and advisors from both the membership and from other regional organisations.
We wish for all people to have access to our website. Our website is designed with the intention of making the content accessible to the widest range of visitors. To achieve this we adhere to best practices, such as compliance with W3C standards; and by careful reference to the standards set out by other organisations to improve access for everyone.
Standards compliance is important to us. As part of our Standards compliance efforts, all web pages validate as XHTML 1.0 Transitional. The website design is structured to use semantic markup. H1 tags are used for main titles, H2, H3, H4, H5 and H6 tags for subtitles.
All web pages contain links to home pages, and menu systems are designed in a consistent fashion throughout our website to increase overall access to all of the information that is available.
Many links have title attributes, which describe the link in greater detail. Links are written to make sense out of context. All links linking to web pages within our websites open in the existing window. Some links, linking to external website pages open in new windows.
Our website uses font sizes compatible with user specified text size option in visual browsers. Many website visitors with impaired vision need to increase the font size from the default Medium setting to a larger or smaller setting.
This website design uses cascading style sheets for visual layout. If your browser or browsing device does not support style sheets at all, the content of each page is still readable.
All images used in our website include descriptive ALT attributes and/or TITLE attributes to explain the significance of each image to non-visual readers and to give further information on the image.
