WEDNESDAY 19 November 2008
Wednesday 19th November - yet another impressive turnout. We can all be very proud of how we are growing from strength to strength. A warm welcome was given to Glen Mansbridge of Technology Tamed Limited, Rob Blackman of ICON Business Solutions (the other half of the ICON team) and James Usher who was not so much warmly welcomed more "warnly" welcomed, to make sure he joins soon!! David got the meeting underway by announcing we would start with the "Beauty" and end with the "Beast". Luckily Alison had taken time to check the magic mirror in her hall and had exactly one minute to speak before her magic beauty potion wore off. It was close.... As the one minute clock started to tick Paul told of his positive experience of just being with us; Mike mentioned marketing, marketing, marketing; Andy offered advice on where to go, all within a minute and very nicely too; Jon mesmerised us with his magic tale of how he stopped pigeons flying in and out of a work yard at the same time as the workers. Max offered a one minute personal service. Graham told us about his Christmas party trick of how he can change pennies into pounds. But is it legal tender? Well done to Claire who travelled to work in her pyjamas, fluffy slippers and night cap and raised a load of money for Children in Need. Rob told us about a training day with ICON Business Solutions, give him a call. James led us to believe that for just £10 per minute sorry month you can receive credit check information on businesses. David DMM (alas no more our "posh Dave") had nothing to declare, but still took a minute to explain this to us in a most eloquent manner. John was on the look out for a builder in a white T shirt with a silver van. Unfortunately he ran out of time to tell us why but did anyone notice how Mike was shifting uneasily in his seat? Was it because of the marbles he had in his back pocket or because he was wearing a white T shirt and has a silver van? Finally we came to the "Beast". Ricky who comes from a land far, far away, where they dream of watching TV beamed in from the Isle of Wight, showed us what a real beast of a big heart he has by warning us to always get your television aerial fitted by a professional. Nick Compton gave a very interesting and informative 10 minutes. He told us the story of the Three Little Pigs. He gave a lesson on the three R's - recession, recession, recession. He explained to us the effects of inflation and deflation. We all agreed he had the most Positive Solution to all the ills of the world, so start voting now for the next Prime Minister!Nominations for business or business person of the year should be sent into the Chamber office. The ceremony will take place in January and is sponsored by Sussex Express Newspaper.
See you all next week bright and breezy, no later than 7am! AND remember your pound for Chris for the RNLI and an item of luxury food for the ABC Fund.Alison
